Tryggvi Thor Herbertsson, MP for the Independence Party has revealed that he received a 2 million ISK payment for the report he did with Columbia professor Frederic Mishkin in 2006. The report was paid for by the Icelandic Chamber of Commerce and was used as the main counterweight by Icelandic businesses and politicians against foreign claims that Iceland was headed for an economic crisis. At the time, Tryggvi was the chair of the Institute of Economic Studies at the University of Iceland and the favored economic spin doctor for the Independence Party.
Mishkin was a little bit more expensive but he received 17 million ISK for his part.

A spinster is an old maid.
I think the word you are looking for is spin doctor.
