New is the hippest word in Iceland. 

Every candidate is throwing around the word new. Everyone wants a New Iceland, New Constitution, New Parliament etc. 

Even Thorlindur Kjartansson who is running for the Independent Party in Reykjavik. After going through the ranks of the party’s youth organization and being involved enough to become its leader, and getting a job at the Independent Party’s employment center Landsbankinn, including promoting the notorious IceSave accounts he still has the galls to proclaim himself “new”. 

If ever a word has devalued at the rate of the ISK, then it is the word “new”.
