The Icelandic Banks Question of The Day

Where would the Icelandic banks be without the Icelandic taxpayers?

Maybe having to renegotiate with their customers like BoA.

I had a run in with one of the government’s chief advisers on the household debt issue. He told the truth, plain and simple and I don’t know why Arni Pall Arnason doesn’t just come out and say this;

“We are rebuilding the bank system on the backs of the taxpayers. Any talk of debt write-offs to households is irresponsible because it will cost them in taxes close to 50% and reduced pension payments. Is that what you want? Is it?”

He did not answer my question on what the situation would be like if large parts of the population would give up and leave.

And he would probably regard the write-offs to billionaires as “socially important”, because they were the only people qualified enough to run the country’s largest businesses.
