Nazi EU Preparing Genocide In Iceland

There are some pitiful characters still haunting Icelandic politics. Stirring up nationalistic rhetoric, they are unable to get a grip in post-crash Iceland.

Bjorn Bjarnason, Styrmir Gunnarsson, David Oddson and Bjarni Hardarson are not the only failed ghosts of the past who want to determine Iceland’s future. Ogmundur Jonasson, the leader of the “unruly division” within the Left Greens has managed to top them all by likening the EU to Hitler and positioning Icelanders with the North American Indians who faced genocide from the white man entering their lands.

Ogmundur has so far achieved notoriety by being the staunchest anti-EU, anti-IMF, anti-Iceland paying foreign debts, anti-foreign investment, anti-government politician in the post-crash period. Even rabid demagogue Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson of the Centre Party and money-puppet Bjarni Benediktsson of the Independence Party come nowhere close and have basically stepped aside to let the madman do their biddings.

In an article in Morgunbladid (of course), Ogmundur alludes that the EU’s goals are to provide its citizens with “lebensraum“, therefore it is coveting an expansion towards Iceland. He ponders whether the destiny of the citizens of Iceland will be the same as the one of the American Indians who lost their land in exchange for glass-pearls and fire-water.

The worrying thing is that Ogmundur is granted ample time in the press for his musings.

And there are plenty of scared and confused people in Iceland who are ready to buy his rhetoric.

“Nazi EU preparing genocide in Iceland”.

Meanwhile constructive critics are drowned out in his blaring noise. One of them, Fridrik Jonsson is outraged.

Pitiful, dangerous, stupid and downright evil.
